General and Community Pediatrics
The Division of General and Community Pediatrics delivers evidence-based primary and preventive care. We develop the next generation of pediatricians by offering a broad foundation of excellence in pediatrics: imparting knowledge and skills to provide superb care; showing how to advocate for patients; and conducting innovative research focused on improving the health of populations. We also value the development of community-academic partnerships to improve the well-being of children.
Highlights of our Division include:
- Each faculty member has a unique focus, creating a well-rounded team to comprehensively approach pediatric primary and preventive care.
- We've trained a generation of pediatricians, many of whom are in leadership positions throughout the country.
- We work with schools and other community organizations, allowing UTSW pediatrics residents to gain an appreciation of the many strengths and some of the challenges of the communities in which their patients live.
- We are the departmental home of the Child and Adolescent Population Health Program (CAPHP) – a unique collaboration between the O'Donnell School of Public Health, the Department of Pediatrics, and Children's HealthSM.
