Epilepsy/Seizures :: Conditions and Illnesses

About Our Program | Conditions and Illnesses | Our Physicians | Patient Education Materials | Support Groups and Resources

UT Southwestern Medical Center is a national leader in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy. Our physicians have the experience and the advanced medical knowledge required to effectively treat all of the various types of epilepsy that occur, whether the illness is first diagnosed in early childhood, adulthood or advancing age.

Epilepsy research conducted at UT Southwestern makes important contributions in the lives of many individuals diagnosed with the disorder. Advanced diagnostic techniques and treatments available in the world today are practiced at UT Southwestern.

Researchers investigate how current and newly developed medications can be used to help patients effectively maintain control of seizures. UT Southwestern’s neurosurgeons also perform surgery to bring seizures under control, if medications fail to do so.

In addition to epilepsy, seizure disorders treated at UT Southwestern include:

  • Partial seizures
  • Generalized seizures
