Nasal and Sinus Disorders :: About Our Program

About Our Program | Conditions and Illnesses | Our Physicians | Patient Education Materials | Support Groups and Resources

UT Southwestern Medical Center offers expert care and effective treatments for all types of nasal and sinus disorders, including rhinitis, sinusitis, nasal polyps and nasal tumors. Our physicians provide comprehensive nasal and sinus evaluations and create an individualized treatment plan for each patient.

For patients with allergic rhinitis, UT Southwestern offers medical management of allergy symptoms through targeted forms of therapy (antihistamines, decongestants and other medications) and immunotherapy. UT Southwestern’s allergy immunotherapy treatments using shots can result in patients becoming less allergic to irritating agents.

Patients experiencing sinusitis as a result of deviated septums, polyps, nasal allergies or other conditions benefit from UT Southwestern’s effective medical management of the condition. Depending on the specific cause of the patient’s condition, our specialists may prescribe antibiotics, decongestants, pain medications or allergy treatments.

For sinus conditions that do not adequately respond to medical management, our physicians can treat chronic conditions with advanced surgical procedures, including functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). Our experienced surgeons use a small fiber optic scope to view and perform procedures needed to correct or remove any obstructive tissues. The surgeries help relieve the patient’s chronic symptoms, improve breathing and increase quality of life.
